Meet Your Teacher, 9/8 at 4:30 (4:00 for families new to Edison)
Posted Date: 09/03/26 (12:34 PM)
Hey families!
I am excited to start the new school year new week! I have a broader newsletter in the works..... But just to get this out there as a placeholder:
Our annual Meet Your Teacher event is scheduled on Tuesday, September 8, and the start time depends on who you are:
- KG families are welcome to join the event, HOWEVER KG families won't know who their child's classroom teacher is until 9/16. They will be invited to scheduled family conversations on 9/17 & 9/18 WITH their child's teacher, so it doesn't really make sense to attend until the family picnic at 5:00, if at all. KG students are the only students who have school on 9/8, so they will likely be tired. But I want to be inclusive and let families decide what makes sense for them.
- Families new to Edison can come to the gym from 4:00 - 4:30 to meet me (Principal Dave) and representatives from Parent Council, hear about Edison, and ask questions. I do realize that many KG families are new to Edison, so those families can either opt out and stay home after a long day OR choose to join us in the gym. No pressure.... just do what feels right for your family.
- Returning families can come to Edison at 4:30, go to the classroom(s) of their child(ren) to see the space and meet the teacher(s). Remember that this is not time for a conference, as the teachers will be greeting many children and families. This activity ends at 5:00.
- At 5:00, families can either head home OR join the family picnic on the back field. The weather forecast looks good, and hopefully the rain we've had helps us keep the air quality in check. This is a "bring your own food/blanket" event, with Parent Council supplying some type of popsicle treat. We will have grade level signs on the field so you can sit with other families with children in the same grade as yours. Connecting with other families in our school community can really help make your Edison experience special! School staff may wander around to say hello, but many of us have our own kids also starting school the following day.... so it's a balance.
Sincerely,
Principal Dave Hulbert
